What You'll Learn
- Pragmatically define what an operating model is and its relationship to organization design.
- Differentiate between Organization Development and Organization Design as they are not the same thing; Examine the intersection and relationship to each other.
- Identify at least ten-to-twenty business levers to manipulate and change as part of an operating model redesign that directly impacts business performance.
- Critically examine at least five trends in operating model design including Agile v agile, customer centricity, management-less designs, platforms and ecosystems, technology transformations, etc. and identify the levers being utilised.
- Learn and apply the five elements of structure and describe their relationship to organization charts.
- Define and recognise the elements of a management operating system and its important to an operating model.
- Examine and describe the three change agent roles and the consequences of each role when doing organization design work.
- Learn and explain at least five best practices delivering organization design work.
- Learn OTM’s eight Phase approach to organization redesigns. Apply the purpose, selected key outputs, decisions, and activities for each Phase.
- Learn the art and science behind planning and delivering organization design work. Gain and recite at least 10 wisdoms associated with “how” to complete an organization redesign.
- Learn and appreciate how OTM’s Accelerated Change Readiness, is integrated into a redesign project from start to finish. Going way beyond reactive, after-the-fact change management.
- Work through at least 3 different case studies from problem identification to redesign.
- Learn and describe the three to five enabling success features of doing organization design work as an internal practitioner.
